INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT EDCAMP
"RARA AVIS": A BIRD, WHICH IS AT THE SIDE OF GOOD
"Rara avis" is the name we use to lovingly call Ukrainian pro-active pedagogues-edcampers who by their openness to new experience and aspiration for changes in education and society in general stand out in their communities.
We understand that each of us, if we speak figuratively,
has something from both "black" and "white" birds. The purpose
of the EdCamp movement in Ukraine is to support educators
in understanding and disclosing their very best qualities.
Responsible teachers choose the path of everyday good deeds and the fight against unproductive deeds in education. How this happens, see the first series of cartoon "Where do rara avises (bili vorony) fly in education?" Or look through the comic book pages about 2 years of EdCamp Ukraine activity.
6 TENETS OF EDCAMP
Free of charge
Edcamp is offered at no cost
to attendees. It is a strict condition guaranteeing equality of chances.
The program is created by participants on the first day

Independence
EdCamps do not have "supervisors" from the public
or business sectors. Everyone can express their thoughts freely, take part in a discussion and defend their opinion.

If you attend an EdСamp, you have the right to speak there. Everyone can share their experience in the uniting atmosphere.
Free initiative
Everyone can host EdСamp
in their area: any local
educational department,
school, public organization
or informal group of teachers.
The "law of two feet"
Attendees find the sessions they want to take part in on their own. It is an effective way to “drop out” irrelevant
or presented in an unattractive way presentations.

After EdCamp Ukraine 2018, we will ask the leading practitioners from other countries to stay in Kharkiv for a few days to provide opportunities for Ukrainian educators to go deeper into specific topics and refine their skills.
It will be a two-day work in small groups, which only
the participants of the national (un)conference will be able to join.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN EDCAMP UKRAINE 2018
Everything is simple. The main criterion is your motivation for development and willingness to be responsible! Both young specialists
and experienced educators are invited to take part in the event. The subject you teach, the age of your students, the position you occupy, and the status of your educational establishment do not affect the results of the contest selection. We expect a very big contest. Last year the number of applicants was 4 persons per a place so do your best to be persuasive in your application form.
AFTER-EDCAMP
At the (un)conference we expand our outlook, developing horizontally. Since this year, you can stay here longer for a more profound, i.e. vertical, development. Key speakers invite you to two-day
master classes.
CERTIFIED ADVANCED TRAINING
The Ministry of Education and Science recommends counting the number of hours of the national (un)conference as part of
the amount of advanced training course of its participants.
MOVEMENT
Among the participants there will be the coordinators
of mini-EdCamps. I want to learn how to organize
such a unique event at my school.
NETWORKING
I want to meet with people who also care how the education system in Ukraine will develop. And there will be over 800 people!
DIALOGUE
Within two days representatives of the authorities
of different levels will be with us. I want to meet them
in person and ask them a few questions.
FREEDOM
I will choose only those sessions that I need. 200 training options from national and international practitioners are waiting for me.
MISSION
I want to be interesting to those who I teach using the best educational practices – to prepare children for the real life, not just for exams.

EDCAMP UKRAINE 2018… ALL IS GOING TO BE WHITE!
The main emphasis of the upcoming national (un)conference is education, built on the values. We at EdCamp Ukraine are convinced that our professional qualities are determined by personal features, and those, in turn, are based on our choice of life principles.
We call for the abandonment of all ‘toxic’ things and call for the ecological choices – thinking, relationships, teaching and, ultimately, life.
It is impossible to teach others about those things which we can not do on our own.
How often do you think about this?
Take or give away? Who should be responsible? How to stay calm and act decisively? What does our happiness depend on? Why does self-awareness lead to freedom? What does the dignity consist of? Is patience a strength or weakness? What provides ease? To pretend to be
a good person or to be one?

and playing it on time.
This is the best way to awaken your powers and gain independence, get rid of laziness and carelessness.

This means you say what you think and do what you say. After confessing to the mistake, you do not make it again and do not justify yourself. You do not pretend to be a good person

And we will continue the conversation at EdCamp Ukraine 2018. Together, we will turn two days of the (un)conference into a space
of studying this and other principles, their disclosing and promoting in everyday life.
